AELA involvements with the various national and regional equipment finance industry associations enable a greater appreciation of emerging market and regulatory trends. During the year in support of this objective, contact was maintained with the Equipment Leasing and Finance Association of America (ELFA), Leaseurope, the Finance and Leasing Association of the United Kingdom, the Canadian Finance and Leasing Association, Felalease (for South America) and Asian Leasing and Finance Association, as well as with other banking and finance sector bodies.
An increased focus for regular discussions has been the release by the IASB and FASB of the exposure draft of the proposed new lease accounting standard (see separate discussion on this item).
AELA joined with the other major leasing bodies in a joint submission to IASB/FASB, highlighting the six key concerns of the global leasing industry. The Chairman of Leaseurope and the Chairman of ELFA addressed AELA’s 19th Annual Conference 28 November 2012.
